Abdurrahim Durmus

Abdurrahim Durmuş is Head of Department at the Directorate of Climate Change within the Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change of Türkiye. In this role, he leads the coordination of Türkiye’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), the development of the country’s Long-Term Climate Strategy, and the Climate Change Mitigation Strategy and Action Plan. His work focuses on national greenhouse gas modelling, mitigation scenario analysis, and supporting evidence-based climate policy design, while also contributing to international climate negotiations under the UNFCCC. With over a decade of professional experience in climate policy and engineering, Abdurrahim has played a central role in developing Türkiye’s low-carbon transition strategies and advancing greenhouse gas reduction policies. He has served as a technical expert reviewer under the Paris Agreement’s Enhanced Transparency Framework and has actively participated in numerous global climate negotiations and conferences. His expertise spans climate mitigation policy, carbon markets, industrial decarbonisation, and climate strategy development, supported by a background in civil engineering and a Master’s degree in Energy Economics and Management.
