AEF sponsored 9 African energy researchers from 8 countries (Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Tunisia, Zambia, Ghana and South Africa) to attend the International Energy Workshop (IEW); the IEA-ETSAP workshop; and OpenMod South Africa, hosted by the Energy Systems Research Group at the University of Cape Town in June.
The multidisciplinary group, of engineers and economists, attended presentations on papers covering a wide range of topics, including, modelling techniques, climate policy, decarbonisation, and engaged researchers working on these issues globally, setting the foundation for collaborative research projects.
AEF will continue to create capacity-building opportunities for African energy researchers. To stay up to date on future sponsorship opportunities, please subscribe to our newsletter or follow AEF on LinkedIn.
