Update on the Call for Proposals to Host the Inaugural African Energy Futures (AEF) Hub

African Energy Futures is in the final phase of assessing the ten shortlisted proposals for the first AEF energy research hub. AEF had received 183 concept notes from 156 institutions, in 28 countries in response to the call for proposals issued in December 2025. Of those, ten institutions, including: seven universities; two think tanks; and one not-for-profit research organisation, from eight countries were invited to submit full proposals.

The winner of the grant will be notified in September 2026, with a public announcement to follow in October 2026.
