African Energy Futures Hub
Call for Proposals

Thank you for your interest in submitting a proposal to host an energy research hub. Bidding institutions must be prepared to help lead the building of an African wide community of practice and must have the intention of using the grant support provided by AEF to build a long-term sustainable institution engaged in collaborative research and training that will continue post-AEF funding. This is not project specific funding but support intended to strengthen or establish institutions focused on energy modelling and planning in Africa. We expect hubs to lead multi-disciplinary and multi-stakeholder research processes that have an impact on the policy and investment environment. Your leadership and collaboration with other institutions and future hubs across Africa will contribute to a stronger African voice in international fora.

We are currently open to receiving concepts for fully funded hubs of US$1 million to be allocated over 3 to 5 years. At this stage we are inviting concept notes of no more than 5 pages, please do not exceed this limit. Prior to drafting the concept note please familiarise yourself with the AEF goals (in the information sheet and presentation), the eligibility criteria, and the guidance document. Proposals from African based research institutions or consortia are welcome. Demonstrating your capability in research, training, and stakeholder convening are critical. Demonstrating political support for your initiative will be beneficial.
